“Swing for the Savior” is a UBA initiative designed to provide meaningful perspective on the role baseball and softball can play in the lives of young athletes. These sports are powerful tools for growth, but no matter how talented an athlete is or how far their career takes them, every playing career eventually comes to an end. Our goal is to help ensure that their identity is not defined by performance, social media, or the scoreboard, but instead grounded in values that endure beyond their time on the field.

Rooted in Christian principles, the program offers lessons and encouragement that we believe are valuable for individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs. Participation in any event we offer is completely optional and open to everyone free of charge.

Session 2: Featuring Ronnie Rothe

Pastor Ronnie Rothe of Relevant Community Church in Elkhorn, Nebraska, and a former collegiate athlete, will be featured in Session 2 of Swing for the Savior.

Pastor Rothe, with his extensive experience working with high school students and leading sermons on practical faith, will deliver our second talk, titled “Living with Integrity: God’s Guidance On and Off the Field.” He’ll explore how Scripture, like Colossians 3:23—“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters”—can guide players in conducting themselves with honor in intense game moments, like handling a bad call, or in daily life, like navigating peer pressure or social media. While rooted in Scripture, this talk will focus on practical, inclusive lessons that resonate with everyone, regardless of personal beliefs.
